Crescent University Secures NUC Approval for BSc Artificial Intelligence

Crescent University, Abeokuta, has secured the National Universities Commission’s approval to run a Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence from the 2026/2027 academic session.

This was contained in a letter dated September 11, 2026, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, and signed by the Director of Academic Planning of the NUC, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.

The approval followed a resource verification visit earlier in the year by a panel of experts who assessed the human and material resources available for the programme.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbajabiamila, the approval is a significant milestone and an addition to the university’s record of 100 percent accreditation scores across programmes in science, technology, arts and social sciences.

He noted that Crescent University has one of the best knowledge laboratories and computer-based centres in Nigeria, where students can learn in a conducive environment.

He added that with Artificial Intelligence increasingly influencing all sectors of the socio-political economy, the new programme will afford students opportunities to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in their chosen specialisations.

The commencement of the BSc Artificial Intelligence programme from the 2026/2027 academic session adds to the academic portfolio of Crescent University, Abeokuta, reinforcing its vision of academic and moral excellence.
