Edo State University’s New Vice-Chancellor Unveils Vision for a World-Class Institution

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University, Iyamho, Professor Victor Olawale Adetimirin, has unveiled an ambitious plan to position the university as a globally recognized institution of learning, research, and innovation.

Speaking at his maiden press briefing, Prof. Adetimirin emphasized digitalization, sustainability, and academic excellence as the key pillars of his administration. He announced that the university will transition fully to digital operations, covering areas such as admissions, student records, and financial management, to ensure accountability, transparency, and efficiency.

In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Vice-Chancellor pledged to adopt a circular economy approach in infrastructure development, focusing on reuse, recycling, and regeneration.

Highlighting his academic agenda, Prof. Adetimirin stressed the need for programs that combine rigor, relevance, and world-class research engagement. He also assured both students and staff of improved welfare, promising to provide strong support systems that will enhance teaching, learning, and scholarship in a conducive environment.

He noted that the university’s digital reforms would help curb corruption and wastage, while enabling data-driven decision-making.

Prof. Adetimirin expressed gratitude to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his appointment and praised the state government’s commitment to developing the university’s infrastructure.

With these initiatives, Edo State University, Iyamho, is set to strengthen its reputation as a leading center of excellence in Nigeria and on the global stage.
