Federal Medical Centre, Azare Upgraded to Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital

Federal Medical Centre, Azare Upgraded to Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital

The Federal Medical Centre, Azare has been upgraded to Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Azare (FUHSTHA), following approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The upgrade was announced in a circular issued by the Office of the Director of Administration.

The circular also announced the appointment of Dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum as the Pioneer Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Teaching Hospital. The approvals were conveyed to the CMD by the Honourable Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad All Pate, in Abuja.

The upgrade brings about new designations, including the replacement of the Medical Director with the Chief Medical Director (CMD), and the Head of Clinical Services with the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC)/Director of Clinical Services.

The Management expressed appreciation to staff for their dedication and professionalism, and enjoined them to re-dedicate their efforts towards providing effective and efficient healthcare services, training, and research.

The upgrade is expected to bring about improved healthcare services, training, and research, and the Management solicits the support and cooperation of all stakeholders to make the Teaching Hospital a centre of excellence.
