Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Rector Pays Courtesy Visit to Yobe State House of Assembly Speaker

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir, paid a familiarization visit to the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, on Thursday. The visit aimed to seek collaboration with the Speaker on skill acquisition, leveraging the polytechnic's 16 trades to address the high number of out-of-school children in Yobe State .

 

Dr. Bashir emphasized that the polytechnic's trades are people-oriented, providing well-trained and employable graduates. He encouraged the Speaker to incorporate skill acquisition into constituency projects, potentially reversing the state's rating on out-of-school children.

In response, Rt. Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio appreciated the Rector's visit, noting it was the first of its kind by successive rectors in the polytechnic's three-decade history. The Speaker stressed the need for collaboration to extend beyond the House to the state government and Secretary to the State Government's office.

The Rector was accompanied by the polytechnic's Acting Bursar, Ismail Muhammad, and Director of Open Distance and Flexible e-learning, Dr. Muhammad Abubakar Shuwama.

 

This development underscores the institution's commitment to addressing the state's educational challenges and promoting skill acquisition for employability.
