Federal University Oye-Ekiti Appoints Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole  as New Vice-Chancellor

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Nigeria, has announced the appointment of Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole as its new Vice-Chancellor. The announcement was made by Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council.

Professor Ogunwole, a renowned soil scientist, has over three decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. He currently serves as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Strategic Partnership, Research, Innovation, and Linkages) at FUOYE and is scheduled to assume office on February 11, 2026.

The selection process was described as rigorous, competitive, and transparent, with Professor Ogunwole scoring 89.9%. Senator Ndoma-Egba praised the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, and urged unity among stakeholders to support Professor Ogunwole.

Professor Ogunwole previously served as Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University (2018-2023), leading infrastructural projects and improving staff and student welfare.
