From Medical School Setback to Academic Triumph, Ama Iniobong Geoffrey's Inspiring Journey
Ama Iniobong Geoffrey's story is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. Despite being withdrawn from medical school after five years, he went on to excel in his second academic pursuit, graduating with a remarkable 4.34 CGPA in BSc Microbiology.
*He was the best student throughout his primary school years and never dropped below 4th position from JS1 to SS3.
He was 2nd in the Imo State Cowbell Maths Competition (2008) and 2nd in the Imo State Maths Olympiad (2008).
Despite his impressive academic background, Geoffrey faced significant challenges in medical school. He struggled with the workload, particularly in physiology and biochemistry, and ultimately failed to pass his professional MBBS exams. The withdrawal from medical school was a devastating blow, leading to depression and suicidal thoughts.
However, with the support of loved ones and his faith, Geoffrey was able to find hope and turn his life around. He transferred to the Microbiology program and applied the discipline he had gained from medical school to excel. His hard work paid off, and he graduated with a remarkable 4.34 CGPA in 2024.
