FUASK And KASUPDA Forge Strategic Partnership To Advance Sustainable Physical Development

The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, FUASK, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, welcomed a delegation from the Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority, KASUPDA, on a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration in physical planning, urban development, and regulatory compliance.

The delegation was received by the University Librarian, Professor Daniel Abubakar, who represented the Vice Chancellor, Professor William Barnabas Qurix, OFR, FNIA, and the University Management. 

Welcoming the visitors, Professor Abubakar described the visit as timely and significant in promoting sustainable development within the University community. He offered prayers for the continued success and growth of both institutions and reaffirmed FUASK's commitment to partnerships that promote excellence and orderly development.

Addressing the gathering, the leader of the delegation and Director General of the Authority, Bldr. Abdurrahman Yahaya, Ph.D., explained that the visit was designed to establish a productive working relationship between KASUPDA and the University. He noted that effective collaboration would promote compliance with urban planning regulations and contribute to the creation of a safe, organized, and sustainable environment for the University and its host community.

Bldr. Yahaya stated that the engagement also served as an avenue for both organizations to familiarize themselves with each other's operational responsibilities, exchange professional insights, and build a framework for continuous cooperation on matters relating to physical development and infrastructure planning.

As part of the community stakeholders' engagement and sensitization meeting, the delegation highlighted the statutory requirements that must be fulfilled before the commencement of any building project. These include obtaining the appropriate planning approvals and legal documentation, securing the endorsement of the District Head, Hakimi, where necessary, completing all prescribed application and clearance forms, and carrying out professional site mapping, architectural design preparation, and comprehensive site analysis.

He further stressed that adherence to these procedures is essential for ensuring orderly development and preventing future planning conflicts. According to him, developments undertaken without the approval of KASUPDA constitute violations of the law and may attract sanctions, including the demolition of illegal structures or monetary fines ranging from ₦50,000 to several hundreds of thousands of naira, depending on the nature of the offence.

Following the interactive session, members of the delegation embarked on an inspection tour of selected facilities within the University and its surrounding areas to gain firsthand knowledge of the institution's physical layout and ongoing developments.

Among those in attendance were the University Bursar, Mallam Dalhat Ibrahim; the Dean, Student Affairs, Professor Ishaya Kato Auta; the Director of Physical Planning, Arc. Abel Simon Bivan; the Director of Public Affairs, Adamu Nuhu Bargo; and the Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Samuel Hadwyah, alongside other members of the University community.

The visit concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph, marking the beginning of what both institutions described as a mutually beneficial partnership dedicated to promoting responsible physical planning, sustainable infrastructure, and institutional development.
