FUGA Vice-Chancellor Reaffirms Drive to Produce Environmentally Conscious Graduates
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Gashua (FUGA), Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing environmentally conscious graduates through its Green Code Initiative.
Professor Geidam made this known while receiving officials of the North-East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) during a courtesy visit to his office on Friday, June 5, 2026. The visit formed part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration.

The Vice-Chancellor explained that a central component of the initiative is a policy requiring every student to plant and nurture at least one tree before graduation. He noted that the programme is designed to instill a culture of environmental responsibility among students while encouraging their active participation in conservation efforts.
