NSUK VC Champions Ethical Journalism at 3rd Raymond Dokpesi Annual Diamond Lecture
The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, has called for intensified efforts in promoting media literacy, ethical journalism and democratic accountability as essential catalysts for inclusive national development.
Professor Liman made the call while being represented by the Director of the Institute of Education, Professor Ngozi P. Nwosu, who delivered a goodwill message on Sunday, 25th October, 2026, at the 3rd Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi Annual Diamond Lecture.
The lecture was held at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Conference Centre in Abuja and themed Media, Democracy Consolidation and Development.

Advocating robust synergy between government, academia and development partners, the Vice-Chancellor, through her representative, commended the organising committee for sustaining the prestigious lecture series and paid tribute to the founding father of Raypower FM and Africa Independent Television (AIT), the late media entrepreneur Dr. Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, CON, acknowledging his monumental and enduring contributions to Nigeria's broadcasting industry and democratic governance.

The event convened top government functionaries, veteran media professionals, academic leaders, development partners and members of the Dokpesi family to reflect on the intersections of media freedom, accountability and nation-building.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nwosu emphasised that higher education institutions hold a cardinal responsibility in driving public engagement, building professional capacities and spearheading interdisciplinary research.
She noted that fostering strategic communication and upholding professional ethics are non-negotiable if the media is to effectively serve as the watchdog of society and a partner in sustainable national progress.
The intellectually stimulating event featured robust deliberations on the future of Nigerian democracy and the media, culminating in the presentation of Awards of Excellence to distinguished personalities who have made remarkable contributions to national development.
NSUK's active participation at the national forum highlights the University's commitment to intellectual discourse, ethical communication and collaborative stakeholder engagements aimed at shaping a prosperous future for Nigeria.
