The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman, has congratulated Mr. Daniel Madu Ogechukwu, a 400-level student of the Department of Social Work, on his outstanding achievement in the 2022 Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) games.
Ogechukwu won a gold medal in judo, earning him the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the World University Games (WUG) in Germany in July 2025.
The university's sporting prowess was showcased at the NUGA games held in Lagos, where Ogechukwu's gold medal in judo was complemented by silver medals won by Favour Aboki and Gata Bridget in karate. This achievement has brought recognition to FULafia, highlighting the institution's commitment to fostering athletic talent alongside academic excellence.
Prof. Abdul Rahman expressed his enthusiasm for Ogechukwu's achievement and assured him of the university's support in his future endeavors. The Vice-Chancellor wished Ogechukwu success at the World University Games, emphasizing the university's commitment to nurturing sporting talent. The Chairman of the Sports Committee, Prof. Victor S. Dugga, accompanied Ogechukwu to the Vice-Chancellor's office to seek blessings ahead of the WUG.
