FUTA Alumnus Lawson Olorunwa Appointed Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Lawson Olorunwa Sunday, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.

Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Engr. Dr. Lawson Olorunwa Sunday, an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), as the Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The appointment takes effect from April 25, 2026, following the retirement of the former Rector, Dr. Adegun Simeon Olurunwa, on April 24, 2026.
Dr. Lawson Olorunwa is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and BioEnvironmental Engineering Technology of the institution.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Environmental Engineering Technology from the Federal University of Technology Akure and is also a registered engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the Nigerian polytechnic system.
Before his appointment, he served as Deputy Rector of the Polytechnic and had previously occupied several administrative positions, including Director of Works and Head of Department.
According to the announcement, the new Acting Rector hails from Ajagba in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
