According to him, candidates must have good academic standing, sound character, and leadership qualities, and must not be linked to examination malpractice, cultism, internet fraud, drug abuse, or any act that could tarnish the University’s image.

“Leadership in the Students’ Union demands individuals who can combine academic excellence with public responsibility while serving as worthy ambassadors of the University,” he stated.

Prof. Kuta charged the committee to adhere strictly to University rules and regulations throughout the process, and assured them of management’s support.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the Chairman, Prof. Adamu Yusuf Kabiru, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the confidence reposed in them. He said, though he expected the previous exercise to be his last, he accepted the responsibility again in the interest of the University.

He attributed past electoral successes to God’s grace and assured management that the committee would discharge its duties with fairness, transparency, and the fear of God. He added that while competence, capacity, and character are essential for leadership, the committee would thoroughly screen aspirants to ensure only qualified candidates contest.

The inauguration sets the stage for the Students’ Union elections, which will usher in new student leaders for the coming academic session.
