Landmark University Hosts 9th Inaugural Lecture on Hyperconnectivity and Disruptive Technology

Landmark University has successfully hosted its 9th Inaugural Lecture on the theme, “Hyperconnectivity of Information Systems: The Enabler of Disruptive Technology to Power Future Human Generation.

The event brought together principal officers, staff, students, guests, and members of the University community for an engaging discourse on the future of information systems and disruptive technologies.  

The ceremony commenced with an academic procession, an opening prayer by the Assistant Chaplain, Dr. Akinyomade Owolabi, and the rendition of the University and National Anthems.  

In his welcome remarks, the Registrar, Engr. Adebayo Ajala, described inaugural lectures as a vital academic tradition that promotes scholarship and intellectual exchange. He noted that the lecture’s theme is timely in today’s technology-driven world.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Ajanaku, welcomed participants and stated that inaugural lectures celebrate years of dedicated research and academic excellence. He congratulated the inaugural lecturer, Prof. Adebiyi Ayodele Ariyo, on attaining the milestone.  

Delivering the lecture, Prof. Ariyo examined the growing influence of hyperconnectivity on human development, describing it as the seamless connection of people, devices, and information systems through modern communication technologies.  

He identified disruptive innovations such as Generative Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Blockchain, the Internet of Things, IoT, and Green Technology as key drivers of future societal transformation. He also reflected on his research journey and acknowledged those who contributed to his academic success.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Board of Regents, Pastor Obed Onos Iserameiya, commended the lecturer for his insightful presentation. He urged students to embrace emerging technologies responsibly by developing digital skills and applying innovation to solve societal challenges.  

The event concluded with goodwill messages from colleagues, mentees, and friends of the inaugural lecturer, followed by a closing prayer and academic recession.  

The lecture marked another milestone in Landmark University’s commitment to academic excellence, research, and innovation.
