FETHI Nurses Commission Five-Unit Apartment As CMD Announces Approval Of Promotion Letters
The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) Branch, on Monday, November 2, 2026, commissioned a five-unit apartment to ease accommodation challenges among nurses, generate revenue for the association and promote long-term sustainability.
The event, held at the NANNM building opposite the Medical and Health Workers' Union (MHWUN) building, attracted members of hospital management, union leaders and staff across various departments.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, who commissioned the building, commended the nurses for the initiative, describing them as wonderful, intelligent and dedicated professionals. He attributed the successful completion of the project to the peaceful atmosphere in the hospital.
In a major announcement, the CMD disclosed that he had received approval for the 2026 promotion from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, signed on Monday, assuring staff that their letters would be released shortly. He added that the exercise also addressed the appropriate alignment of staff designations.
Earlier, the Director of Nursing Services, Mrs. Olubunmi Adeniji, PhD, commended the NANNM leadership for its prudence and commitment to the project. She emphasised the importance of financial accountability, noting that the association's account would remain subject to scrutiny.

In her address, the NANNM Chairman, Mrs. Ajayi Folaranmi, explained that the project, initiated by the previous executive, was completed by the current administration as part of its commitment to moving the association from consumption to productive investment. She said the facility would benefit newly employed nurses and interns posted to FETHI from distant locations, while serving as a source of internally generated revenue.
She appreciated nurses employed between 2023 and 2026 for contributing N36,000 each towards completing the project, alongside executive members, the building committee and past and present hospital management. She also appealed to the CMD to facilitate the relocation of the hospital's incinerator over concerns about its environmental and health implications for the surrounding creche and vendors.
