Tansian University Acting Vice-Chancellor Dies at 44

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Tansian University, Prof. Nnamdi Dike Umeoduag, has died at the age of 44.

The Professor of Microbiology reportedly died in the early hours of Friday. Before becoming Acting VC, he served as the university's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and was a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The university also clarified reports that Umeoduag had served as Acting VC for only two days. Management said he had been authorised to serve in the position for approximately two months after the substantive VC proceeded on medical leave.

Tansian University described him as a distinguished academic, administrator and former legislator, saying his death was a major loss to the institution, his family and the wider academic community.
