FUTMINNA Set to Pioneer AI and Nuclear Engineering; Hosts NUC for Landmark Resource Verification
The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), is positioned to become a leading hub for advanced technology and national security education following a high-level resource verification visit by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on Monday, April 20, 2026.
The exercise is a critical step toward the formal launch of six specialized degree programmes designed to meet 21st-century industrial and security demands.
Prof. Kuta emphasized that the introduction of these programmes—particularly in the fields of AI and Nuclear Science—reflects the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and national development. He noted that the university has invested in the necessary infrastructure and personnel to ensure these high-tech departments thrive from inception.
The NUC teams are conducting a comprehensive assessment of the university’s facilities, laboratories, and faculty capacity. This verification ensures that the programmes align with the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) required for producing globally competitive graduates.
The successful take-off of these courses is expected to significantly boost FUTMINNA's global ranking and provide Nigeria with the specialized manpower needed for the emerging digital and energy sectors.
