FUTO Announces Post-UTME and Direct Entry Screening for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The Management of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates with 2026 UTME results for admission into the University for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The institution has opened its Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session for candidates seeking undergraduate admission into various programmes across its schools and colleges.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who meet the following conditions are eligible to apply:
i. Candidates must have applied to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the 2026 undergraduate admission.
ii. Candidates must have selected the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) as their First Choice institution.
iii. Candidates must have sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or applied for Direct Entry (DE) admission.
Such candidates are hereby invited to participate in the screening exercise for admission consideration.
General Conditions for Application
The following conditions shall apply to all applicants:

Application for the screening exercise commences on Friday, May 22, 2026, and closes on Friday, July 31, 2026.

Only candidates who are at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, are eligible to apply.

Only candidates who scored a minimum of 150 in the 2026 UTME are eligible to apply.

Each candidate must ensure that their JAMB subject combination aligns with the requirements as stated in the official JAMB brochure for the chosen programme.

Candidates who did not initially select FUTO as their First Choice but scored a minimum of 150 in UTME are also eligible to apply, provided they visit the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to effect a change of institution to FUTO on or before July 31, 2026.

Candidates must possess at least five (5) O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, as well as three other relevant subjects depending on the chosen programme. These must be obtained at not more than two sittings.
For candidates applying to the MBBS programme, a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is required at ONE sitting only.

Direct Entry Requirements
Direct Entry candidates must possess A’Level qualifications in relevant subjects or OND, HND, or a First Degree in relevant disciplines.
Application Fee and Registration Procedure
Eligible candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Two Thousand Naira (₦2,000.00).
Nature of the Screening Exercise
The 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise will be based on verified JAMB scores and O’Level results uploaded on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
Important Notices to Candidates
a. Candidates must ensure that all personal details on JAMB CAPS match the information used during Post-UTME registration, including JAMB registration number, date of birth, and state of origin.
b. Only candidates whose course of choice on JAMB CAPS matches their Post-UTME application will be considered for admission.
c. Candidates must provide valid mobile phone numbers and functional email addresses for communication purposes.
d. All candidates are required to upload their O’Level results on JAMB CAPS not later than August 17, 2026.
e. Only candidates who complete both Post-UTME application submission and O’Level upload within the stipulated deadlines will be considered for admission.
Direct Entry Additional Instructions
i. Candidates must ensure their A’Level certificates are verified by the awarding institution on JAMB CAPS.
ii. Academic transcripts must be sent to the Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Owerri, Imo State, not later than August 17, 2026.
iii. Only candidates whose transcripts are received by the Registrar within the deadline will be considered for admission.
Application Procedure
Candidates are to follow the steps below for registration:
a. Visit the official FUTO website: www.futo.edu.ng and click on “Prospective Students,” then select “Undergraduate.”
Alternatively, candidates may use the direct portal link: https://portal.futo.edu.ng/#undergraduate
b. Click on “Generate Invoice.”
c. Enter your JAMB Registration Number to generate a payment invoice containing the Remita Retrieval Reference Number (RRR).
d. Proceed to any commercial bank with the invoice or pay online using an ATM card.
e. Return to the application portal: https://portal.futo.edu.ng/#undergraduate
f. Click on “Application Form.”
g. Enter your JAMB Registration Number and click “Login.”
h. Complete the application form accurately.
i. Enter all required personal and academic details correctly.
j. Confirm all entries before submission.
k. Click “Submit” to complete the application process (application is only complete after submission is confirmed).
l. Print the acknowledgement slip.
m. Await further communication from the university.
