Medical students from Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI) have once again demonstrated the institution’s tradition of excellence by winning multiple awards at the just-concluded NiMSA South-East Convention, hosted by the Enugu State University Medical Students’ Association (ESUMSA).

The event, which brought together medical students from various universities across the South-East region, celebrated academic excellence, leadership, and innovation. GOUNI students emerged as standout performers, clinching several major awards in different categories.
The awardees include:
- Ugoji Chimezie – Academic Mentor of the Year
- Nwobodo Stanley – Trailblazer in Leadership Award, Political Personality of the Year, and Pacesetter Award (conferred by the ESUMSA Vanguard Executives)
- Ezeh Tobechukwu – Most Social South-East NiMSAite
- Aguigwo Gerald Somtochukwu – Face of the NiMSA South-East Region and Pioneer Chief Judge for the First NiMSA South-East Debate Tournament
