Gombe State University Clinic Gets Digital Health Upgrade

Gombe State University (GSU) Clinic officially launched a digitalised health‑management system on 27 November 2025, marking the pilot phase of a statewide digitalisation drive by the Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (Go‑Health).

The Executive Secretary of Go‑Health, Dr. Abubakar Musa, commissioned the newly installed digital equipment during a ceremony that included a live demonstration of the innovative platform. Dr. Musa expressed optimism that the successful rollout at GSU Clinic will pave the way for expansion to all Go‑Health centres across the state.

Key features of the new system include remote appointment booking from hostels, lecture halls or off‑campus locations; automated monitoring of drug inventory to maintain consistent stock of essential medicines; and improved transparency and efficiency in service delivery. Go‑Health supplied essential facilities such as waiting chairs, laptops, Android tablets, a blood bank, drug storage units and large digital display screens for patient information and clinical operations.

GSU Vice‑Chancellor Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta welcomed the initiative, noting that the Memorandum of Understanding with Go‑Health was expected to resolve long‑standing clinic challenges. He thanked Go‑Health and Governor of Gombe State for their roles in the project and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to sustaining the partnership. About 18,000 students are already enrolled in the GSU Student Contributory Health Scheme and will benefit from the upgraded services.

The commissioning represents a significant milestone in modernising healthcare delivery at Gombe State University and underscores Go‑Health’s dedication to expanding quality healthcare access throughout Gombe State.
