Gombe State University Holds Capacity-Building Workshop to Strengthen Library Service Delivery

The Abdullahi Mahadi Library of Gombe State University has organised its second In-House Capacity-Building Workshop for Non-Teaching Library Staff to enhance the quality, efficiency, and professionalism of library services.

The opening ceremony was held on Monday, June 29, 2026, and attracted principal officers of the university, library staff, and other stakeholders committed to advancing the university’s academic mission through improved library support.

Declaring the workshop open, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor Danladi Mohammed Umar, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, commended the University Librarian for his innovative leadership. He noted that the initiatives have continued to reposition the Abdullahi Mahadi Library as a centre of excellence. He also applauded the dedication of library staff and urged participants to translate the knowledge gained into improved service delivery across the university. Also in attendance were the University Bursar, Alhaji Hassan Shehu, and Alhaji Sani Jalo of the Bursary Department.

In his welcome address, the University Librarian, Dr. Henry M. Abareh, said the workshop was designed to equip non-teaching staff with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to meet the evolving demands of contemporary university library services.

Themed “Enhancing Library Service Delivery in the University Library System,” the workshop is expected to provide participants with practical insights, contemporary strategies, and best practices to improve operational efficiency, strengthen professionalism, and enhance user satisfaction.
