Gombe State University Hosts Renowned Architect Huraira Umar Baba

Gombe State University (GSU) recently had the honor of hosting Architect Huraira Umar Baba, a distinguished expert in earth and architecture, known for preserving historical earth buildings while incorporating modern designs.

Architect Huraira's visit was facilitated by an invitation from the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who is committed to preserving the state's historical, cultural, and architectural heritage. The government aims to modernize infrastructure while maintaining its cultural, religious, and historical significance.

During her visit, Architect Huraira met with the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, the Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto, and the Bursar, Mr. Jephaniah Shehu. The Registrar highlighted Architect Huraira's expertise and expressed the university's interest in collaborating with her, particularly as GSU prepares to commence activities at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at its Dukku Campus.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor welcomed Architect Huraira and extended an invitation to visit the Dukku Campus to engage with faculty members. He emphasized the importance of her presence in inspiring female students, especially those admitted to study architecture but discouraged by the perception that it is a male-dominated field.

Architect Huraira pledged her full support to Gombe State University, promising to share her knowledge and experience to aid the institution's growth. She emphasized the importance of preserving history and heritage while advancing modern architectural practices, and expressed her commitment to supporting the state government and the university in achieving this vision.
