On Monday 2nd December 2025, Igbinedion University, Okada, made history by formally inducting its first cohort of 61 engineering graduates into the Council for the Regulation of Nigeria (COREN).
In a powerful ceremony, the new graduates were charged to be Nigeria’s front-line problem-solvers. University and COREN leaders framed their mission clearly: to use their skills in thermodynamics, circuit design, and innovation to tackle our nation’s most pressing challenges—from infrastructure and energy deficits to economic stability.
Key Takeaways from the Day:
✅ A National Call to Action: As Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye stated, “You are becoming custodians of Nigeria’s future.”
✅ Commitment to Excellence: 16 of the inductees graduated with First-Class honors, showcasing incredible dedication.
✅ Beyond Technical Skill: The charge emphasized entrepreneurial thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and unshakable ethics.
The message to the new engineers was unambiguous: “We Build Nations, Not Just Roads.”
