Kaduna State University Hosts 4th ECWA Scholars Summit, Advocates for Nation-Building

Kaduna State University (KASU) hosted the 4th ECWA Scholars Summit (ESC) on 7th November 2024, bringing together academics, government officials, and religious leaders to discuss the role of Christian scholars in nation-building.

The summit, with the theme “The Christian Scholar in the Context of Religion, Politics, Development, and Human Dignity,” featured key dignitaries such as Rev. Dr. Job Ayuba Bagat, President of ECWA, and Prof. William Barnabas Qurix, the keynote speaker.

Prof. Abbas Ahuwan, President of ESC, highlighted the growth of the organization and its impact on interdisciplinary research, while Rev. Dr. Bagat stressed the importance of ethical scholarship for societal development. Prof. Qurix emphasized the power of education in shaping society and called for Christian scholars to engage in politics and social change.

The event included discussions on security for places of worship, with contributions from Tanko Kwenge of the Department of State Security and Prof. Terhemba Wuam. The summit concluded with the inauguration of the ESC Board of Trustees, with Prof. James Saliba appointed Chairman.

The summit reinforced the vital role of Christian scholars in promoting ethical development and social justice, urging them to apply their knowledge for the betterment of society.
