Kano State Polytechnic Security Personnel Complete Intensive 5-Day Training to Implement TETFund’s National Campus Safety Initiative

In a bid to preempt and curtail security threats in Nigerian tertiary institutions, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) is driving the development of a comprehensive Security Master Plan for Nigerian tertiary institutions (SEMPOTI). 

In line with this development, the security personnel of Kano State Polytechnic received a five-day training on security management and procedures, sponsored by TETFund and facilitated by Watchline Security Services Ltd.

The training focused on campus security and law enforcement, threat prevention, intelligence-led operations, and technology-driven risk management.

In his vote of thanks during the closing ceremony, the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, ably represented by the Director of Academic Planning, Research and Innovation, Dr. Engr. Comrade Ibrahim Usman Aikawa, thanked TETFund on behalf of the Governing Council, management, staff and students of Kano State Polytechnic for fully funding the training, and praised the facilitators for equipping security staff with modern skills.

He acknowledged the Governing Council and management for prioritizing safety, commended the trainees for their discipline, and urged them to apply what they learned. 

Dr. Aikawa also thanked security agencies for their collaboration, pledged that the training would strengthen security across the polytechnic’s campuses, and wished guests a safe return to their respective destinations.

Speakers during the event included the Registrar of Kano State Polytechnic, Alhaji Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello (Falakin Kano), who was represented by the Deputy Registrar, Human Resource, Mal Rabi’u Magaji Garun-Danga; the Director, School of Management Studies, Dr. Maryam Kabir; the Head of Admin, School of Management Studies, Garba Ismail Fagge; and the Chief Security Officer, Jabir, among others.
