Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University Kano (KHAIRUN) has earned national recognition from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) with the issuance of a Certificate of Registration as a Data Controller/Processor of Major Importance.

The certification, issued under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, places the university among a select group of institutions in Nigeria that have met the required standards for data protection, privacy compliance, and information governance.

The recognition reflects the university’s compliance with national and international best practices in data handling and its commitment to safeguarding personal information across its systems and operations.

In a statement, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the management, staff, and students, expressed appreciation for the achievement, describing it as a significant institutional milestone.

He also commended the University Librarian, Malam Nazir Muhammad, for his role in coordinating and ensuring the successful completion of the registration process, noting that the accomplishment reflects strong internal collaboration and administrative efficiency.
