Kogi State Polytechnic Matriculates 4,591 Students at 33rd Induction Ceremony
Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP) formally inducted 4,591 new students into its academic community during its 33rd Matriculation and Orientation Ceremony held on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
The ceremony, conducted simultaneously at the Lokoja and Itakpe campuses, marked the official commencement of the 2025/2026 academic journey for the freshers.
Enrolment Data: A total of 4,591 regular students were matriculated into the polytechnic's seven schools and 57 academic programs.
Rector’s Charge: The Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, emphasized a "zero-tolerance policy" for social vices, including cultism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, and drug abuse. He warned that any breach of institutional laws would result in expulsion and prosecution.
National Outlook: Prof. Usman noted the institution's growing reputation, with the current intake representing 33 states of the federation, an increase from 26 states in the previous session.
Institutional Support: The Rector praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for significant security upgrades, specifically highlighting the recent perimeter fencing of the Itakpe campus and the installation of CCTV surveillance systems.
During the orientation phase of the event, the management familiarized students with the polytechnic's academic culture and rules of conduct. Prof. Usman assured the new intakes of a student-centered learning environment supported by modernized laboratories, ICT-driven examination systems, and functional libraries.
The event concluded with the official administration of the matriculation oath, as the Rector urged students to remain focused, disciplined, and innovative to achieve academic excellence.
