KWASU Gains Membership of Consortium of Medical Schools in Africa

Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete, has been granted membership of the Consortium of Medical Schools in Africa, CoMSA.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Professor Moyosore Salihu Ajao, received the certificate of membership on behalf of the University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He presented the certificate to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, and the management team in the Vice-Chancellor's office on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Professor Jimoh expressed joy at the University’s admission into the Consortium, describing it as further indication of the rising profile of KWASU’s medical programme and the University as a whole.

The Vice-Chancellor also congratulated Professor Ajao on his appointment as a member of the audit panel committee of CoMSA, noting that it was a recognition of his commitment and contributions to medical education.

The Consortium of Medical Schools in Africa, CoMSA, is an aggregation of member medical schools in Africa for the promotion of medical research, training, and exchange programmes among member institutions.

The network targets the unification of curricula, standardisation of accreditation, and the co-design of locally relevant health-professional education to better serve African communities.

With KWASU's membership of CoMSA, the institution stands to benefit from strategic collaborations, access to research grants, student and staff exchange programmes, as well as enhanced institutional visibility across Africa.
