LASU Wins 2025 LASEPA Inter-Tertiary Environmental Debate Competition
Lagos State University (LASU) has emerged as the champion of the 2025 Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Inter-Tertiary Institutions Debate Competition.
The competition, held in partnership with eTranzact, featured top universities across Lagos and focused on environmental issues.
The LASU debate team, comprising five students from various departments, presented compelling arguments on the topic "Plastic Pollution and the Challenges of Just Transition in a Developing Economy: Lagos as a Case Study." Their well-researched presentation and excellent delivery secured them the top spot and a prize of N1 million.
The Acting Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan, expressed pride in the team's achievement, attributing their victory to the intellectual excellence and dedication of LASU students. He commended LASEPA for organizing the competition, which challenges students to engage critically with real-world issues.
The team's manager, Samuel Olomu, hailed their resilience and attributed their success to rigorous preparations and teamwork. He urged the Lagos State Government to sustain such platforms, which nurture future leaders in environmental sustainability.
This victory solidifies LASU's reputation as a hub for academic excellence and sets a platform for leading conversations on the nation's challenges.
