LASU Wins ₦25 Million JAMB Admissions Merit Award, Strengthens Position as Nigeria’s Top Choice University

Lagos State University has been awarded a ₦25 million cash prize by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) after emerging as Second Runner-Up in the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NATAP-M Awards).

Lagos State University has been awarded a ₦25 million cash prize by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) after emerging as Second Runner-Up in the National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NATAP-M Awards).

The award was presented during the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting on Admissions held on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Abuja.

The recognition forms part of the 6th edition of the NATAP-M Awards, which evaluates institutions based on performance metrics across admissions management, compliance, and institutional efficiency. LASU secured an aggregate score of three points across the five assessment categories for the 2025 admission cycle.

The presentation was made by the Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Ishaq Oloyede, to the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello.

The latest recognition adds to a strong performance streak by the institution, which also emerged as Nigeria’s most subscribed university in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), attracting 84,326 first-choice applicants.

The dual achievements reinforce LASU’s growing reputation as a leading institution in Nigeria’s higher education landscape, particularly in admissions management, institutional stability, and student demand.

University management described the award as validation of its sustained reforms in transparency, innovation, and student-centred governance, which have continued to improve its national standing.
