LAUTECH Emerges First Runner-Up at Nigerian Academy of Engineering National Innovation Competition
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has recorded another major achievement in innovation and research after emerging as the First Runner-Up at the 3rd National Innovation Competition organised by the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAEng).

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has recorded another major achievement in innovation and research after emerging as the First Runner-Up at the 3rd National Innovation Competition organised by the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAEng).
The university’s team was recognised for its outstanding innovation, receiving a cash prize of ₦6 million and an additional $2,000 for developing a technology-driven solution aimed at addressing challenges in agriculture and environmental sustainability.
The award-winning project, titled “Aquavise,” is an artificial intelligence-powered aquafarm system integrated with wastewater management solutions. The innovation was designed to support local farmers by promoting smarter, more efficient, and sustainable aquaculture practices through the use of AI and improved water management systems.
The LAUTECH innovation team comprised Mubarak Erinfolami and Ajibade Ifeoluwa from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Faizat Olubori from Medicine and Surgery, and Fatia Bello from Chemical Engineering.
The Nigerian Academy of Engineering National Innovation Competition is an initiative aimed at identifying, encouraging, and rewarding innovative solutions in science, engineering, and technology that address societal challenges in Nigeria. The competition also seeks to promote promising innovations to investors for further development and commercialisation.
The LAUTECH community has commended the students for their creativity and commitment to solving real-world problems. Special recognition was also given to the university management for its continued support and to Professor Tesleem Babatunde Asafa, Director of the Centre for Emerging Skills and Technology (CEST), for his mentorship and guidance throughout the innovation journey.
The achievement further reinforces LAUTECH’s growing reputation as an institution committed to research, entrepreneurship, technological advancement, and the development of innovative solutions capable of contributing to national development.
