MAU Students Win ₦50 Million at 2026 Nigerian Engineering Olympiad

Modibbo Adama University, Yola, MAU, has recorded another national feat as two of its students, Sharun Smart and Abel Phillip, emerged winners of the 2026 Nigerian Engineering Olympiad, NEO, and clinched the grand prize of ₦50,000,000.  

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Umar, received the winners in his office following their outstanding performance at the competition held in Lagos.  

The Olympiad, sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board in collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers, showcased groundbreaking engineering innovations designed to address real-world challenges across critical sectors of national development.

Describing the victory as a reflection of MAU’s culture of innovation, excellence, and quality, Professor Umar said the achievement has further projected the image and reputation of the University. He noted that the win represents not only personal success for the students but also a proud moment for the entire University community.  

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting staff and students with exceptional ideas and ambitions. He assured that the University Management remains dedicated to providing an enabling environment that promotes innovation, research, and academic excellence.
