McPherson University Medical Laboratory Science Symposium Explores Emerging Diagnostic Frontiers

The Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science at McPherson University held an insightful symposium as part of its Students’ Week activities, themed “Expanding Horizons Beyond Traditional Diagnostics.” The programme was organised to expose students to emerging innovations and broaden their understanding of opportunities within the rapidly evolving medical laboratory science profession.

The symposium featured Adebayo Adisa Olaoluwa as the guest speaker, who delivered an engaging presentation on the transformation of diagnostics and the expanding role of clinical research in modern healthcare. He encouraged students to look beyond conventional laboratory practices and position themselves for opportunities in research, clinical operations, and other specialised fields.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, who was ably represented by Prof. Babatunde Lawal, charged students to remain committed to learning and to participate actively in programmes that enhance their academic and professional growth.

He stressed that the field of medical laboratory science is advancing at a remarkable pace, making it essential for students to remain informed, innovative, and adaptable to global best practices. He noted that such platforms provide valuable exposure needed to build competence and prepare students for future challenges in healthcare delivery.
