Meet Dr. Yakubu Adamu Abubakar, A Visionary Leader Graduating from ABU Zaria Faculty of Veterinary Medicine

Dr. Yakubu Adamu Abubakar, a native of Ngelzarma Town, Yobe State, has successfully completed his journey at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, emerging as a distinguished veterinarian and a formidable student leader. His academic career (2018–2025) is defined by a deep-seated commitment to animal health, public safety, and community service.

From his early days as Health Prefect at Government Science and Technical College, Potiskum, leadership was never optional for Yakubu, it was natural. At ABU Zaria, that passion matured into service and influence.

He served as

• Public Relations Officer, Association of Veterinary Medical Students (AVMS), ABU Zaria 2024 to 2025

• Vice President, Yobe State Veterinary Medical Students Association (YOVEMSA), ABU Zaria 2024 to 2025

• Deputy Clerk, National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOSS), ABU Zaria chapter in 2024

Beyond campus politics, Yakubu showed up where it truly mattered. He actively participated in two Annual National Conventions of the Nigerian Association of Veterinary Medical Students (NAVMS) and stood out as a speaker in 2023, presenting on “Technology and the 21st Century Veterinarian.”

From 2018 to 2025, he also served faithfully as Chief Custodian of the U17 Quietessentials (QV-Class), a role that speaks volumes about trust, discipline, and consistency.

• International Veterinary Students’ Association (IVSA)

• Nigerian Association of Muslim Veterinary Medical Students (NAMVEMS)
