NAVMS Convention 2024: UNILORIN Hosts Historic Gathering of Veterinary Students

In the past year, the University of Ilorin had the honour of being the national headquarters of the Nigerian Association of Veterinary Medical Students (NAVMS).

Some of our veterinary students played a significant role in the association, serving in leadership positions within the national body.

Recently, we had the opportunity to host hundreds of veterinary students from over seven veterinary schools across Nigeria at the NAVMS Annual National Convention 2024 on our campus. This event, the largest annual gathering of Nigerian veterinary medical students, including those in the diaspora, brought together individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The convention featured a variety of activities, including a bonfire and social night, a public lecture and magazine launch, an inter-college debate competition (which Team Unilorin won), a congress, inter-house sports, a city tour, a seminar, and a dinner/cultural night.

The convention left a lasting impression on the students, creating strong bonds and memories. This experience is a testament to Kwara State's reputation for peace and harmony, and to the University of Ilorin's welcoming and supportive environment for both academic and extracurricular pursuits.

We are immensely proud of our veterinary medical students for their leadership and the successful hosting of the national convention.
