NELFUND Disburses ₦1.33 Billion to UNILAG for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially confirmed the disbursement of ₦1,332,192,500 to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) to cover the institutional fees for students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The announcement was made via a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, January 23, 2026, by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, on behalf of the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr.

Beneficiaries: This funding is dedicated to the tuition and institutional charges of students who successfully applied for and were granted the federal education loan.

Purpose: The disbursement is part of NELFUND's mandate to ensure that no Nigerian student is forced to drop out of tertiary education due to financial constraints.

NELFUND has urged students who have not yet accessed the portal to do so, as the government continues to expand the reach of the loan scheme across all federal and state-owned institutions.
