The Department of Health Education and Promotion at Newgate College of Health Technology, Minna, successfully conducted its 2nd Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony on Monday, 2nd February 2026.

The event, held at the Engr. A. A. Kure Auditorium of Newgate University, was themed: “Health Education: A Tool for Societal Transformation.”

The Provost of the College, Mrs. Queendaline Opara Iwala, serving as Chief Host, formally charged the inductees to become vanguards of public health. She underscored the critical role health educators play in disease prevention and the promotion of sustainable community development.

Echoing this sentiment, the Head of Department, Dr. John Akiboh, urged the newly qualified professionals to view their roles as a "calling to service" rather than a mere career path, emphasizing the department’s focus on producing ethical and community-oriented practitioners.

Keynote Address: Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, Acting Chairman of the Health Education and Promotion Research Network (HEPRN), represented by a senior academic from the Niger State College of Education, delivered the keynote. He highlighted the transformative power of health education in nation-building and urged the inductees to remain lifelong advocates for public health.

Induction Lecture: Mr. Petergard Akumabi Adejoh served as the Special Guest of Honour, providing deep professional insights into the evolving landscape of the health sector.

The Oath-Taking: The ceremony reached its peak with the formal oath-taking session, where the inductees pledged to maintain the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and professional conduct in their future practice.

The event marks a significant expansion of the healthcare workforce in Niger State, reinforcing Newgate College’s reputation for excellence in health technology education.
