Newgate University Minna Celebrates History with Maiden Convocation Ceremony

Newgate University Minna marked a monumental chapter in its history as we held our Maiden Convocation Ceremony, celebrating brilliance, resilience, and the rise of a new generation of leaders.

A total of 207 students were awarded degrees across various faculties — with an outstanding 14 graduating with First Class Honours, a remarkable testament to hard work, dedication, and academic excellence. 

The ceremony was filled with moments of pride as awards were presented to Best Graduating Students. The highlight of the day was the recognition of the Overall Best Graduating Student, who achieved a phenomenal CGPA of 4.83. In honor of her exceptional achievement, she was awarded:

✨ A fully funded postgraduate scholarship

✨ Automatic employment with the university

Her story is a shining inspiration to the entire Newgate community. 

The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries. We were honored to welcome the Deputy Governor of Niger State, who represented the Governor and officially commissioned our Postgraduate School, named after the former governor, Umaru Bago — a moment that signifies growth, expansion, and the bright future ahead for Newgate University.

Present at this historic celebration was our esteemed Chancellor, Chief Joe Kyari Gadzama, SAN, whose presence added grandeur and dignity to the occasion. The entire management team, invited guests, parents, staff, and students contributed to the elegance and success of the ceremony.

In his inspiring address, our Pro-Chancellor and Founder, Malam Hassan Nuhu, shared a powerful vision for Newgate University in the next decade. He envisioned a university whose graduates lead industries, shape policy, drive innovation, and contribute meaningfully to every sphere — from science and medicine to business, engineering, and the creative economy.
