NSITF Team Visits Federal Polytechnic Oko; Advocates for Staff Registration on Social Insurance Scheme

A team from Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund ( NSITF), has paid a visit to the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr.Chioma Irene Awuzie during which they advocated for the registration of the Federal Polytechnic Oko Staff on the social insurance scheme.

The team while sensitizing the Rector, revealed that the scheme was established by law, Employees Compensation Act, which made it compulsory for employees from both the public and private sectors to be registered on it.

They further stated that the scheme was designed to provide insurance coverage for employees who may have an accident, sustain an injury or encounter death in the course of doing their work.

In such situations as an accident or Injury, the employee receives compensation, while in the case of death, compensation is paid to the next of kin.

The Rector in her response, welcomed the NSITF officials and assured them that the Polytechnic will comply fully with provisions of the scheme. 

She guaranteed that necessary procedures will be taken to register Federal Polytechnic Staff on the scheme; and consequently directed the bursar, Mr.Jasper Anunike who was present at the visit to liaise with them for a smooth process.
