NYSC Corps Member Leads Diabetes Awareness Initiative at FCE Yola

On November 14, 2024, Precious Garba, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member from the Education and ICT Community Development Service (CDS) group, successfully carried out a diabetes awareness project at the Federal College of Education (FCE) in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State. The initiative was aimed at educating both staff and students about the importance of diabetes prevention and management through lifestyle adjustments.
As part of the awareness campaign, Precious Garba emphasized the significance of regular health checks, a balanced diet, and conscious lifestyle choices to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. The awareness session included an interactive discussion on how small, consistent changes can help prevent and manage diabetes effectively.
One of the key highlights of the event was a free blood sugar testing session organized by Precious Garba. This allowed attendees to check their blood sugar levels and receive professional advice on how to improve their health management strategies. Many staff and students took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about their health status and get tailored recommendations.
