Federal Polytechnic Mubi Announces One-Year Post-ND Industrial Training Requirement for NYSC Mobilization

The management of Federal Polytechnic Mubi has issued a notice regarding the One-Year Post-National Diploma (ND) Industrial Training (IT) as a prerequisite for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization. The notice, issued by the institution’s SIWES (Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme) unit, aims to address challenges faced by students in meeting the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) requirement for Higher National Diploma (HND) and NYSC eligibility.

In recent developments, some students, including those from Federal Polytechnic Mubi, have struggled to fulfill the mandatory one-year industrial attachment requirement for HND completion, which is essential for NYSC mobilization. Efforts by the institution to secure a waiver from the NBTE for affected students, including those expected to graduate in the 2023/2024 academic session, were unsuccessful.

The institution has provided the following guidelines for students impacted by the IT requirement:

  1. Students Affected by IT Deficiency: Those who were unable to participate in NYSC due to non-completion of the one-year IT are advised to visit the SIWES unit at the Sen. Wampana ICT Center for further instructions.

  2. IT Requirement After HND Admission: Students who missed the IT opportunity after ND and before HND admission are now required to complete the one-year IT after their HND completion and passing all required courses as stipulated by NBTE.

  3. Eligibility for IT Participation: Only students who obtained an ND statement of results are eligible for the one-year IT. However, those who graduated with a “PASS” grade will need to complete a two-year IT.

  4. IT Placement and Documentation: Students who have obtained their ND results must collect scouting/introductory letters to their prospective IT locations and document their placements with the SIWES unit.

  5. Completion of IT: Upon successful completion of the IT, students must obtain a letter or certificate from the organization confirming the commencement and completion dates of the IT. The letter must be signed and stamped by the organization.

  6. Submission of IT Completion Letter: The letter/certificate of completion from the organization must be presented to the SIWES unit, after which students will receive the official SIWES completion letter. This letter is essential for HND admission and NYSC mobilization.

The institution has called for widespread dissemination of this information via notice boards and social media platforms to ensure all affected students are informed.
