OAUTHC, IDB Seek Stronger Collaboration To Boost Healthcare Delivery

The Community Liaison and Urban Services Committee of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, has strengthened its partnership with the Ife Development Board, IDB, to advance healthcare delivery and promote sustainable development within the host community.

The committee paid a courtesy visit to the Ife Development Board at the Community Town Hall, where both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving healthcare services and strengthening community engagement.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Community Liaison and Urban Services Committee, Dr. Olanrewaju Oyegbade, said the collaboration was aimed at enhancing patient care, expanding healthcare infrastructure, and ensuring that the hospital continues to meet the healthcare needs of the people of Ile-Ife and its neighbouring communities.

He described OAUTHC as a community-owned institution whose continued growth depends on the support and active participation of its host communities.

According to him, the partnership will help identify priority areas for intervention, mobilise resources, and promote sustainable development that will further strengthen the hospital's capacity to provide quality healthcare services.

Responding, the Chairman of the Ife Development Board, Prof. Rufus Adedoyin, welcomed the delegation and pledged the board's commitment to supporting initiatives that would enhance public confidence in the hospital.

Also speaking, a member of the board, Prof. Adeola Sobola, commended the committee for initiating the engagement, describing the meeting as a significant step towards strengthening communication between the hospital and the communities it serves. She assured the committee of the board's continued support in fostering community participation in the hospital's development.

Both the committee and community leaders described the engagement as the beginning of a new phase of collaboration aimed at positioning OAUTHC as a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery, medical education, and research.
