Borno State Vigilante Group Pays Appreciation Visit to KIU Vice-Chancellor
The Borno State Command of the Vigilante Group has paid an appreciation visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), Professor Babagana Gutti, to express gratitude for his support and for facilitating the verification exercise for vigilante members across the state.
The State Commander, Abba Kundili, who led the delegation, commended the Vice-Chancellor for his support and commitment to the verification exercise, describing it as an important step towards strengthening the group's operations.
Speaking during the visit, Commander Kundili said the vigilante group has continued to contribute to peace, security and development within and outside Borno State. He noted that members work day and night to protect lives and property across communities and local government areas.
He appealed to the government, the Vice-Chancellor and other well-meaning individuals to support the group in addressing the welfare needs of its members, including the provision of monthly stipends and essential operational equipment.
According to him, the group often relies on community support to meet some of its basic needs, particularly the purchase of torchlights and other materials required to carry out its duties effectively.
Commander Kundili further appealed to Professor Gutti to sustain his support for the group, describing him as a man of integrity who demonstrates concern for humanity. He also reaffirmed the group's unity and stated that it maintains an established command structure to coordinate its activities.

In his response, Professor Gutti welcomed the State Commander and members of his delegation and assured them of his continued support.
He explained that the verification exercise was an assignment entrusted to him by the state, which he carried out in the interest of the state and its security efforts.
He commended the vigilante members for their contributions to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property, urging them to remain committed to their responsibilities.
The Vice-Chancellor also pledged to continue exploring avenues to support the group and assured the delegation that arrangements would be made to address outstanding areas of the verification exercise.
The visit underscored the importance of collaboration among community security groups, government institutions and other stakeholders in promoting peace, safety and sustainable development across Borno State.
