The exercise which took place at the main campus, Agbor is also scheduled to take place at the Owa-Oyibu and Owa-Alero campuses of the University at a later date.
Flagging off the exercise, the Vice Chancellor , Prof. Chiemeke commended the Initiator, Professor Gideon Emelue, who is on Sabbatical at Faculty of Agriculture for the laudable venture adding that the Tree would help to beautify and protect the environment from natural disasters.
She called on those on Sabbatical to emulate the good example of Prof. Emelue and come up with ideas that would add value to the University apart from the normal lecturing which was their primary assignment.
In a brief remark, Prof. Emelue thanked the Management for the opportunity to embark on the project which had always been his passion to beautify any environment he found himself.
He later led the Management and other academic Staff to plant the Trees.
First to perform the exercise was the Vice Chancellor followed by other management Staff as well as Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments.
Each Tree was tagged with a number for easy identification of the planter while they were told to nurture the Trees to ensure their survival.
