Professor Adejuwon A. Adeneye of the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology, Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), and Director of the Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, has been honoured with the 2025 Africa Outstanding Professors Award.

The award, organised by the African Principals Conference in collaboration with Africa Brands Review and the Federal Ministry of Education, celebrates top-tier academics across the continent who demonstrate excellence in research, innovation, leadership, and scholarly impact.

Professor Adeneye received the honour on Friday, 28th November 2025, during an award ceremony held at the Osun Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. The recognition highlights his distinguished academic contributions, impactful research outputs, and his consistent commitment to advancing scientific knowledge within Nigeria and across Africa.

In his acceptance remarks, Professor Adeneye expressed profound gratitude to God and dedicated the award to mentors, colleagues, family, and members of the academic community whose support has shaped his career trajectory.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, congratulated Professor Adeneye on behalf of the entire university community. She lauded his exemplary leadership and contributions to research advancement at LASU, describing the award as well deserved and reflective of the university’s deepening profile in scholarly excellence.

It is noteworthy that Professor Adeneye was recently elected a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS), further cementing his position as one of Africa’s leading scholars.
