Rivers State University Partners with UNEP on Climate Change and Sustainability
Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt, Nigeria, hosted a delegation from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) on November 6, 2025, to explore collaborative initiatives addressing climate change and environmental sustainability.
RSU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Zeb-Obipi, expressed gratitude for UNEP's choice of RSU as a partner, underscoring the university's commitment to environmental research and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
Ms. Mira Gratier, UNEP Team Leader, noted the visit aims to assess local climate challenges and evaluate policy impacts from 2025 to 2050, seeking actionable recommendations with UNITAR and local stakeholders.
The collaboration reflects RSU's engagement with international bodies on critical environmental issues affecting the Niger Delta region, aligning with global efforts on climate change mitigation and sustainability.
