SERVICOM Chief Advocates Excellent Service Delivery at Adeyemi Federal University of Education
The Acting National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the SERVICOM Office, Nigeria, Mrs. Helen Lawal, has charged management, staff and students of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, to uphold excellent service delivery to enhance the institution's image and public patronage.
Lawal gave the charge on Tuesday, 15th September, 2026, at the inauguration of the SERVICOM Unit and launch of the reviewed Service Charter of the university. She was represented by Mrs. Kikelomo Aina.
Speaking on the importance of service excellence in the university environment, Aina said students, parents, staff, researchers and visitors interact with the institution through several service points, including admission, registration, examinations, finance, student affairs, ICT, health and administrative services, making quality service a collective responsibility.

She congratulated the university community on the inauguration, describing the establishment of the SERVICOM Unit and the launch of the reviewed charter as a significant step towards strengthening service delivery.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, appreciated SERVICOM for considering the university worthy of the initiative. He charged the newly inaugurated unit to be proactive, visible and responsive to the needs of the university community.
He urged members to encourage constructive feedback, noting that complaints should not be seen as attacks on the university but as opportunities for improvement. He added that suggestion boxes would be strategically placed across campus to encourage free communication of observations and concerns.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Parastatal Servicom Committee, Mr. Iliyasu Musa, commended the university management for the initiative. He noted that among former Federal Colleges of Education upgraded to university status, AFUED is the first to inaugurate a SERVICOM Unit and launch a Service Charter, describing the development as commendable.
The University Registrar, Mrs. Olufisayo Olukemi Fakorede, explained that SERVICOM, established by the Federal Government in 2004, was designed to promote efficient, timely, fair and transparent public service delivery. She described the launch as a milestone in AFUED's journey towards becoming a world-class, service-driven university of education and urged staff to embrace the principles contained in the charter.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Dr. Kayode Bolarinwa, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and management for their support and called for stronger synergy among the SERVICOM Unit, directorates, management, staff and students to sustain responsive and people-centred service delivery.
The event also featured a lecture presentation by the SERVICOM National Coordinator. Dignitaries present included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ireti Alao Folasade; Bursar, Mrs. Taiwo Adedoyin; University Librarian, Dr. Azino Akpokurerie; and union leaders and heads of departments.
