Southern Delta University Opens Recruitment for Academic Staff Positions

Southern Delta University, Ozoro (formerly Delta State University of Science and Technology), has announced vacancies for academic staff positions across its campuses and faculties.

The institution, established by the Delta State House of Assembly law on February 23, 2021, is calling for applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I, Lecturer II, and Assistant Lecturer.

The University, with its main campus at Ozoro and another campus at Oruogun, Delta State, is set on strengthening its academic base by recruiting highly competent teaching staff across disciplines.

Eligibility for the Various Positions

1. Professor
Candidates must possess a PhD from a recognized university and at least 12 years of teaching and research experience in a university system. They must show evidence of academic leadership such as publications in reputable journals, project supervision, and academic mentoring. Candidates should also have experience in administrative duties and demonstrate capability in their fields. Publications must include books and scholarly articles in reputable national and international journals.

2. Associate Professor
Applicants must possess a PhD from a recognized university and must have been a Senior Lecturer for at least three years in a recognized university. They must show evidence of continued research, publications in national and foreign journals, and academic leadership. Evidence of teaching ability, project supervision, and academic mentoring is required.

3. Senior Lecturer
Applicants must possess a PhD degree from a recognized university and have at least five years of teaching and research experience at the university level. Evidence of research and journal publications in both national and international journals is required. Participation in other academic activities such as administration and mentoring should also be demonstrated.

4. Lecturer I
Candidates must possess a PhD degree from a recognized university with a minimum of three years of teaching and research experience. They must show evidence of scholarship through publications in reputable journals, as well as evidence of ability to teach and supervise projects.

5. Lecturer II
Applicants must possess a PhD degree from a recognized university. Evidence of teaching and research capability, as well as articles in reputable journals, is required. Candidates must also provide reasonable evidence of participation in academic and professional activities.

6. Assistant Lecturer
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university. Candidates with PhDs will have an added advantage. Evidence of teaching ability will be required.
