The University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (UAES), Umuagwo, officially inducted 583 newly admitted students into its academic community during its 2026 Matriculation Ceremony held on Friday, February 13, 2026.
The event, hosted at the University Pavilion, marked the formal commencement of the 2025/2026 academic session for students across five key faculties, including Agriculture, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Science & Computing, and Arts, Management & Social Sciences.
In his keynote address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher C. Eze, congratulated the matriculants and emphasized the institution's mission to produce graduates with practical entrepreneurial skills and robust moral standing.
Professor Eze issued a stern warning against social vices, reiterating the university’s zero-tolerance policy toward examination malpractice, cultism, and drug abuse. "Your journey to greatness starts with discipline and integrity," the VC remarked while charging the students to remain focused on their academic goals.
The ceremony also served as an occasion to acknowledge the educational strides of the Imo State Government. The University management expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, particularly highlighting the 50% tuition-free policy specifically designed for students within the Faculty of Agriculture.
