Al-Ansar University Ushers in New Era with Two Strategic Leadership Appointments

Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri (AUM), has announced two major leadership appointments aimed at strengthening its management structure, accelerating institutional growth and positioning the University as a leading centre of higher learning and research.

The appointments, approved by the University's relevant governing authorities, reflect the institution's commitment to visionary leadership, academic quality, research development and expanded access to university education

The Board of Trustees of Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, under the Chairmanship of Alhaji Mohammed Adam, MFR, has approved the appointment of Prof. Fanna Inna Abdulrahman as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The appointment is in recognition of her exemplary leadership, administrative competence, dedication to academic excellence and contributions to the growth and stability of the institution.

Prof. Abdulrahman has served as Acting Vice-Chancellor since September 8, 2025, during which she demonstrated commitment to strengthening academic programmes, institutional governance and administrative efficiency.

Her appointment as substantive Vice-Chancellor is for a three-year tenure commencing retrospectively from September 8, 2025, and ending on September 7, 2028, with her period as Acting Vice-Chancellor forming part of the tenure.

As Chief Executive and Chief Academic Officer, Prof. Abdulrahman will continue to provide strategic leadership in academic administration, research, governance, financial management, staff and student welfare, and the pursuit of excellence in teaching, learning and community service.

In a complementary development, the Governing Council of AUM, chaired by Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, MFR, at its 6th Special Meeting held on Friday, October 9, 2026, approved the appointment of Engr. Prof. Baba Shehu Waziri, FNSE, FNICE, MGBCN, as Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for Advancement, Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Enrolment (ARISE).

Prof. Waziri, of the Department of Civil and Water Resources Engineering, University of Maiduguri, brings distinguished academic credentials and extensive experience in research, engineering and institutional development.

His appointment takes effect from November 1, 2026, for an initial period of one year ending October 31, 2027, subject to the University's applicable regulations.
