The University of Ibadan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Juwon T. Arotiba, has reiterated that health is the greatest form of wealth, speaking on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Professor Kayode O. Adebowale during a health rally organized to mark the 77th Foundation Day and 2025 Convocation Ceremonies.

Professor Arotiba emphasized that prevention is better than cure and highlighted the importance of maintaining good health for productivity and overall well-being. He urged the university community to adopt healthy lifestyles, engage in regular physical activity, eat nutritious meals, and prioritize preventive healthcare measures.
The rally was organized by the University Health Service, led by Director Dr. Aderonke Ajav, who explained that the initiative aims to raise awareness on healthy living. Dr. Ajav advised staff and faculty to embrace consistent health practices, including balanced nutrition, adequate rest, regular exercise, and routine health screenings. She encouraged Deans and Faculty Officers to motivate staff members to attend regular medical check-ups, noting that “checking is wisdom, not witch-hunting.”

Participants, including teaching and non-teaching staff, enjoyed a campus-wide walk marked by singing, dancing, and the display of health tips at strategic locations. Basic medical check-ups were also available before and after the rally to reinforce the campaign’s preventive health message.
